12/11/2023 0 Comments Aura deja vuI've had a normal MRI and three normal EEGs (including one sleep-deprived and one on the same day as a seizure). I have had eight so far, always when stressed or sleep deprived or both, but strangely they completely went away during pregnancy and early postpartum (and then returned). The worst of it fades after an hour or two but I don't feel like myself until the next day. Lasts a couple minutes and then followed by a feeling of depression/dread, feeling that my surroundings are foreign even though a small part of me knows it's familiar (usually my house), and major memory issues. Two years ago I started having these episodes - a sudden, intense burst of dreams that are accompanied by intense deja vu (recalling a dream I had the night before) and a strange sense of euphoria. Your story sounds eerily similar to mine! I'm 33. But, as I said, check w/ relatives & get frequent EEG's just in case. For your sake, I hope your doctor is right. It's possible you're having nothing but stress-related migraines. Of course, there are other signs, such as nausea, sensitivity to light, water & metal has a strange cold feel to it, etc. When I wake up from sleep when I had a seizure, I have a horrible migraine (what I call a seizure hangover) - it's how I know I had a seizure while I slept. They are also accompanied by a lot of drool. I also had severe migraines caused by stress & most of my seizures are caused by stress, except for the ones I have while I sleep. My epilepsy is not the cause of a tumor or scar, but is inherited (from my uncle) & was not detected until I was 15. Also, check w/ your relatives to see if any of them have epilepsy. If I were you, I'd keep getting EEG's every few months. My last episode was yesterday (I had a few) which may be connected to a stressful event (being told they aren't keeping me on at my job, also started my postgraduate studies at university, and found out my partner might have a serious heart condition). I guess I just want to know if others have similar experiences. I don't exactly know where I am going with this. They seem to be related to my dreams, almost as if I get flashbacks of dreams I had the night before. The deja vu itself only lasts a few seconds. ![]() The next morning I would have a severe migraine headache. ![]() There have been times where I would wake up with an intense feeling of deja vu, I'd feel nauseous and even throw up at times. I've had two normal EEG results, the last time I saw her she said it's probably not epilepsy and just migraines. The neurologist said I probably have it, that those deja vu sensations are most likely seizures (which I already suspected). I haven't officially been diagnosed with epilepsy. ![]() They seem to be triggered by a stressful event, I've also experienced them a week or so before my period is due, when I've been in the car for a long period of time (the next day I'll get them). Every couple of months or so I will experience clusters of deja vu episodes. 12/10/2023 0 Comments A deadly influence by mike omerIt was called a love bomb, a strategy cults used in recruitment. And when I got there, people were so nice. They invited me for a weekend there, to meet the rest of the community. I was surprised that someone who had been a member of a cult was able to be lulled into another community so easily. The big difference is that Abby has moved on from their time in the cult to make a successful career while Eden doesn’t seem to have moved on at all. Both are divorced mothers of two, and each has a boy and a girl. CharactersĪbby and Eden provide interesting characters who have taken different paths in life after surviving the mass suicide, although there are surprising similarities. The author has certainly done his research into the topics, there’s a lot of detail here. So too does Gabrielle’s role as an influencer on Instagram, we’re pretty sure the abductors have been following her account. I think the backstory for Abby and Eden also gives an unusual twist to the standard types of abduction scenarios. Although I did think that Abby’s role as a hostage negotiator wouldn’t have made her the first choice to lead the investigation. So, what of the story? It’s a pretty good police procedural, flowing at a nice pace throughout. The abductor has reproduced Nathan’s bedroom in their hideout exactly, they also haven’t demanded any ransom. This is certainly no run-of-the-mill kidnapping plot. Does Tillman’s community or Nathan’s father have something to do with the abduction? Eden and the children used to live in this community but managed to get out several years ago. As she delves deeper, she learns that the children’s father is a member of another cult run by Otis Tillman. Abby is the first person Eden considers to help.Īs Abby starts investigating the kidnapping, she understands that Eden is a single mother of two children: Nathan and Gabrielle. Eden and Abby were two of three survivors of the Wilcox cult mass suicide, the third is Isaac who keeps in contact by messenger. This however could be uncovered when she receives a frantic call from Eden Fletcher, whose son Nathan has been kidnapped. So I’ve started picking some of the older ones to give them an airing, I was pretty pleased with this choice.Ībby Mullen is a Hostage Negotiator with the NYPD who has a horrendous past which remains secret. Like many of you (probably), I’ve got a huge pile of books that I haven’t gotten round to. My ReviewĪ Deadly Influence by Mike Omer has been on my TBR pile for a while, I bought it back in March 2021. ![]() About what’s happened in the years since she and Abby parted ways.Īs the truth closes in, Abby realizes that her past may not be as far behind as she thought…and it’s come home to collect. She’s silent about the relics of their shared past hanging on her walls. As Abby throws herself into the case, she can’t help but wonder why the kidnapper has targeted Eden. But now Eden needs Abby’s help: someone has kidnapped her son and is demanding a $5 million ransom. The two haven’t spoken since the night of a tragic, fiery massacre, when their paths diverged. That all changes when she gets a call from Eden Fletcher, a fellow survivor of the infamous Wilcox cult. As the hostage negotiation instructor for the NYPD, she deals with worst-case scenarios every day. (Blurb from Goodreads for A Deadly Influence) Lieutenant Abby Mullen is no stranger to crisis. ![]() The plasmons create a comparable field that extends into the medium on either side of the film. In TIR, the reflected photons create an electric field on the opposite site of the interface. Thus, the energy and the angle of incident light must match to create surface plasmon resonance. However, as plasmons are confined to the plane of the gold film, for SPR it is only the vector component parallel to the surface that matters. ![]() The relative magnitude of the components changes when the angle or wavelength of the incident light changes. The momentum of the photons and plasmons can be described by a vector function with both magnitude and direction. Resonance occurs when the momentum of incoming light is equal to the momentum of the plasmons (momentum resonance). Plasmons have a characteristic momentum defined by factors that include the nature of the conducting film and the properties of the medium on either side of the film. Like all conversions, the photon to plasmon transformation must conserve both momentum and energy in the process. Therefore, when in a TIR situation the quantum energy of the photons is right, the photons convert to plasmons leaving a 'gap' in the reflected light intensity. In accordance with the quantum theory, a plasmon is the particle name of the electron density wave. Photon and electron behaviour can only be described when they have both wave and particle properties. The incident light photons are absorbed and the energy is transferred to the electrons, which convert into surface plasmons. These are the outer shell and conduction-band electrons. When the electrical field energy of the photon is just right, it can interact with the free electron constellations in the gold surface. In addition, gold is chemically inert to solutions and solutes typically used in biochemical contexts (1). In most cases, gold is used because it gives a SPR signal at convenient combinations of reflectance angle and wavelength. Now the prism is coated with a thin film of a noble metal on the reflection site. ![]() This is called total internal reflection (TIR).Īlthough no light is coming out of the prism in TIR, the electrical field of the photons extends about a quarter of a wavelength beyond the reflecting surface. At this point, all the incoming light reflects within the circular prism. Changing the incidence angle (Θ) changes the out-coming light until it reaches a critical angle. When a light beam hits a half circular prism, the light is bent towards the plane of interface, when it is passing from a denser medium to a less dense one. Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) is a physical process that can occur when plane-polarized light hits a thin metal film under total internal reflection conditions (1). 12/10/2023 0 Comments Openfoam paraview courant number![]() PyRunner( command= 'sim. There is often confusion between breath and voice sounds breath sounds generate in the lungs whereas voice sounds generated in the larynx. During this process, Laënnec invented the stethoscope.īreath sounds are categorized as normal or abnormal and have 3 characteristics: intensity (soft, medium, loud, very loud), pitch (low, medium, high), and duration. René Théophile-Hyacinthe Laënnec established the link between a breath sound and an identifiable pathological change in the lungs. Auscultation, a technique that requires both clinical experience and a good stethoscope, dates back to the early 1800s. If you hear a suspicious breath sound, listen to a few other nearby locations and try to delineate its extent and character.Ĭ.“Breath sounds” refer to the movement of air through the respiratory system and can be evaluated through auscultation of the lung fields. Making the order of the numbers in the images below a ritual part of your pulmonary exam is a way of ensuring that you compare both sides every time and you'll begin to know what each area should sound like under normal circumstances. Begin by ausculating the apices of the lungs, moving from side to side and comparing as you approach the bases. Generally, you should listen to at least 6 locations on both the anterior and posterior chest. There are 12 and 14 locations for auscultation on the anterior and posterior chest respectively. eg If you are listening to the left apex, you should follow through by comparing what you heard with what you hear at the right apex. It is important that you always compare what you hear with the opposite side. You should listen to at least one full breath in each location. Be careful that the patient does not hyperventilate. Ask the patient not to speak and to breathe deeply through the mouth. ![]() To assess the posterior chest, ask the patient to keep both arms crossed in front of his/her chest, if possible.Īuscultate using the diaphragm of your stethoscope. ![]() Be considerate and warm the diaphragm of your stethoscope with your hand before auscultation.Īs you are auscultating your patient, please keep in mind these 2 questions:ġ) Are the breath sounds increased, normal, or decreased?Ģ) Are there any abnormal or adventitious breath sounds? You may wish to wet the patient’s chest hair with a little warm water to decrease the sounds caused by friction of hair against the stethoscope.ĭ) Always ensure patient comfort. If this is not possible, ask for assistance or perform only a partial assessment of the patient’s breathing.Ĭ) Your stethoscope should be touching the patient’s bare skin whenever possible or you may hear rubbing of the patient’s clothes against the stethoscope and misinterpret them as abnormal sounds. sitting up in bed or on the examining table, ensuring that his or her chest is not leaning against anything. Eliminate noise by closing the door and turning off any radios or televisions in the room.ī) The patient should be in the proper position for auscultation, i.e. This may be difficult in a busy emergency room or in a room with other patients and their visitors. Before you begin, there are certain things that you should keep in mind:Ī) It is important that you try to create a quiet environment as much as possible. Auscultation is perhaps the most important and effective clinical technique you will ever learn for evaluating a patient’s respiratory function. 12/10/2023 0 Comments Aws senior solution architect salary![]() Salaries for jobs in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) field can vary depending on a number of factors, including the specific role, level of experience, education, location, and industry. Silica gel? You mean the stuff that comes in little bags with a warning not to eat them? It can be used as a humidity indicator in weather-measuring instruments, as well as in self-indicating silica gel. You can get an indicator paper – like litmus paper but containing cobalt chloride - which changes colour from blue to pink in the presence of water. This can again be reversed by adding water. If you warm pink CoCl 2.6H 2O gently – up to 150☌ or so - it will gradually lose water forming the violet CoCl 2.2H 2O, then blue anhydrous CoCl 2.
